GASTROTYPOGRAHICASSEMBLAGE, apprently


The other day we met at old St station to go on a school trip! First stop Lou Dorfman's exhibition at the kemistry gallery. The work entitled gastrotypographicassemblage was displayed as a scaled down photo piece, depicting the original wooden work that used to hang in the CBS canteen, nonetheless it still had a grand impact. The brochure describes the work as “completely of its time but enduring in its appeal”. An example of work I feel has been strongly influenced would be this promotional poster from the graphics course at Falmouth.
 
After that we went on to the White Cube gallery. Although not expressly a graphic design exhibition, the work provide food for thought on graphic elements, such as the power of repetition in type and collage techniques for our 100 collage assignment.
